The SEI Program provides students with substantial opportunities to explore educational interests in the fields of Pastoral Ministry, Psychology, Social Work, and Health Care outside the traditional classroom through real world experiences and hands-on learning. In addition, the program is designed to antiquate the student with a number of different areas that will broaden his or her awareness of other disciplines.
The SEI Program is a nonprofit, community-supported, privately funded program under the general sponsorship of Immaculate Conception Church Pastoral Ministry Department in Sealy, Texas. The program is staffed by qualified volunteer professionals who donate their time and do not receive any form of stipend. This is a 10 to 12 week program which begins in May each year following the completion of the student's spring semester. Applications for the program are taken during the fall college semester and must be endorsed by the participant's advisor. It is preferred that the applicant completes 75 hours of course work before entering the program. Certain exceptions can be made by the supervisory team.
A criminal background check is required, along with participation in a 3 hour VIRTUS program. A reading list will be provided to the candidate upon acceptance. In addition, reflection papers or critical incident reports will be required at various times throughout the program.
At the end of the summer semester, an evaluation will be provided to the student's advisor at the college he or she is attending. This allows the institution to record the information on the student's transcript and to issue the assigned college credit.
